Vir Chakra is a Indian wartime military bravery award presented for acts of conspicuous gallantry. in the presence of the enemy on the battlefield and is third in precedence in wartime gallantry awards and comes after the Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra.

 

Appearance                                                                                  

 

The medallion is 1-3/8 in. circular prize. A 5 pointed star, with the chakra within the centre, and, on this, the vaulted gilded state emblem. The decoration is called on the rim and suspended from a swiveling straight-bar wear. The decoration is nearly perpetually named and dated on the sting. Around a clear centre, 2 legends area unit separated by lotus flowers; with Vir Chakra in Hindi on top of and in English below. The ribbon is thirty two metric linear unit, navy blue and orange-saffron; navy blue sixteen metric linear unit, saffron sixteen metric linear unit.

The award carries with it a money allowance and, in some cases, a payment money award. This has been a rather disputable issue throughout the lifetime of the decoration. From one Feb 1999, the central government set a monthly regular payment of Rs. 850 for recipients of the award. additionally, many countries have established individual pension rewards for the recipients of the decoration.
