Oppo has not updated its Find series in India since the Find
X2 but new models are often released in other regions. Earlier this year, Oppo
launched the Find X5 Pro, which followed the Find X3 Pro, and introduced some
great improvements. This phone is not officially available in India and as far
as we understand, Oppo does not plan to launch it here anytime soon, which is a
shame. Oppo sent us a unit to try for a few days, so here’s our first look at
how it is.
It retains that
iconic camera wrap, albeit with minimal redesign, which gives the effect of an
entire camera module mounted with a ceramic back panel. It is truly unique and
helps the Find X5 Pro stand out. This Glaze Black trim is a great magnet for
fingerprints, but happily, Oppo offers a box in a box.
Phone build quality is very high. The Oppo Find X5 Pro has a
curved metal frame and a beautiful curved display, made with Corning Gorilla
Glass Victus. The 6.7-inch AMOLED panel specs are also high quality, with a
10-bit color palette, QHD + resolution (3216x1440) and a flexible refresh rate
of 120Hz. Oppo has used the LTPO panel, which allows the refresh rate to
measure all the way down to 10Hz.
The Find X5 Pro is a heavyweight phone weighing over 200g
and not too small. Other notable features include the IP68 dust and water
resistance rating, stereo speakers, 5,000mAh battery with up to 80W wireless
charging speed, and up to 50W wireless charging speed.
This is a sign of 2022, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is powered by
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and comes with a single configuration of 12GB
of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Even more interesting, it boasts of
Oppo's custom SoC called MariSilicon X which promises faster processing and
more powerful photo and video capture.
In the short time I had with the Find X5 Pro, it sounded
like a sensitive, and highly competitive flag, if Oppo chooses to launch it
here. ColorOS 12 is based on Android 12 and works well. I also got a good
impression by watching any kind of video content. The games looked great too,
though I noticed a slight drop in the frame when I played fast games like
Asphalt 9: Legends in the traditional QHD + display.
Oppo has partnered with Hasselblad on the Find X5 Pro
cameras, building on its sister company OnePlus. The phone has three rear
cameras and on paper, the details are amazing. The main camera has a
50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor and uses a combination of sensor and lens
stability, such as the Vivo gimbal camera technology for better stability when
shooting videos. The camera is very wide and uses a Sony IMX766 50-megapixel
sensor but with a different lens system for a wide view.

close proximity or large shots. For the photos you took, there is a
32-megapixel front camera. If you look at some of the camera samples you see
above from the limited time I spent taking pictures, the Oppo Find X5 Pro seems
to be a reliable shooter. The phone can record video up to 4K with some amazing
enhancement when using a large camera.
